Our visitors share their Nantucket memories . . .

Nantucket basket from The Golden BasketWe rented a Jeep and spent a magical day on the beaches, visiting the lighthouses, watching the seals, and enjoying a picnic dinner at sunset on Madaket. Although we returned just two days ago from our first visit to the island, we are already planning a return trip next summer to enjoy the roses.

As a young college girl in Boston from Vermont, I went on a magical vacation to Nantucket with a beau. We rode our bicycles all about, stayed at a wonderful inn, ate food that tasted like heaven and took many long walks on the beach. I didn't ever want to go home. In fact, your web site brought back SO many memories, I went into my bedroom and searched and found the golden earrings that he gave me on the ferry home and rememberNantucket basket from The Golden Basketed how we had parted to buy each other gifts to remember Nantucket. Now, as a basket lover, I wish I knew of such a special heritage YOUR baskets hold. Thank you for letting me share. I believe Nantucket brought me the love of the ocean that will keep me from my home state as a place of retirement because the ocean forever will call my name....

I loved the buildings and the rose-covered cottages. The flowers were so beautiful - and they were everywhere!

Nantucket basket from The Golden BasketI went to college in Newport and have always been fond of baskets, my china pattern is Wedgewood's "Nantucket."
We first saw The Golden Basket in Martha's Vineyard and the following Christmas my husband suprised me with the beautiful golden basket on the cover of your internet site. I love it :-)

Nantucket basket from The Golden BasketAs I got off the ferry one night late I was overwhelmed by the smell of the flowers . . . I cannot get it out of my head . . .I think about it all the time.
p.s. i need the catalog because my husband promised to buy me the "nesting baskets" that i saw in your shop........i hope they are available---i love the idea of adding on for special occasions!

I have been to Nantucket two times, both times during early October. It was on my most recent visit, a couple of years ago, that I took a taxi to the rose covered cottages overlooking the sea in Siasconset. I have yearned to return again and spend endless hours wandering your beautiful island. There is too much beauty there to absorb in only two visits. I am probably going to plan another visit in 1998. I will miss your 20th Anniversary celebration this year, though, so I will look forward to browsing in your catalog. Thank you.

Nantucket basket from The Golden BasketI am from Mass. originally. We lived on our boat for 3 years. 1 1/2 years ago, my husband and I had to move to Pittsburgh for a job. This past week (7/24-8/4) we came home for vacation. We took a trip by boat to visit your island once again. I cried many times because I realized I never really appreciated our region while I was there. I saw Nantucket with new eyes and was filled with joy in just being there. Nantucket is beautiful, please don't let it change into something other than what it is right now. I want to know, someday when we come back, that you'll be there waiting for us. (BTW, I bought one of your baskets while I was there.... you do beautiful work!)

My husband and I spent our honeymoon on Nantucket and have been trying to return annually ever since. Our dream is to own a cottage on the island someday. Sunset on Madaket's beach, watching the farmers harvest the cranberries, and the clam chowder at The Brotherhood of Thieves are just a few of the memories. Of course the excitement of being newlyweds on an island we felt we could call home someday goes without saying. My souvenir from our honeymoon? A pair of gold scallop earrings from your store that I cherish.

I adore Nantucket, my favorite place in the world. I've lived out here in San Francisco for 2.5 years now, and I miss my trips to Nantucket most of all. There is nothing to compare to it, even on the beautiful California coast.

My favorite memory of Nantucket - waking up at 5:00am and going to Eel Point with my father-in-law (now deceased) and husband (at that time) to catch and photograph the sunrise. It was in February, so desolate, but so beautiful. I am in tears right now, just thinking about that time. My father-in-law loved Nantucket, too, and was just so at-home there. I will never forget this day, and am so happy to have photographs as memories.
